This week the children began their exploration of ethics in fairy tales. After brainstorming and discussing what a fairy tale was and what important elements could be found in fairy tales, the children listened to Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie by Laura Rankin. After discussing the feelings expressed in the book, the children reflected on their own experiences with lying and honesty and how it had made them feel. The children listened to Snow White retold by Quentin Greban and watched carefully to spot which characters were telling the truth and which characters were lying. They also thought about whether the truth or lies helped or hurt Snow White.
