It was a great week in Pre-K. After hearing This Is The Way We Go To School, they responded to their Morning Message's question of the day, "How Do You Go to School?” by adding a sticker to their first graph of the school year. During activity and work time, the children were totally engaged as they explored their new classroom environment and found areas of interest, while the teachers interacted with and supported them. The children were introduced to Hug-A-Book, a time for quiet and independent or shared reading of a favorite book, then headed outdoors for recess just before the end of the day. This was a fruitful first week of school for the children in many ways. The next few weeks will be devoted to confidence building routines, so that the children can gain a sense of security in the predictability of the day and familiarity with their new school. From the very first day, the foundations for the MKA Character Standards of friendship, respect and responsibility are woven through the Pre-K curriculum and will support the children on their journey at MKA.
