The focus of literature this week is family traditions and celebrations of December. During this time, the children have been engaged in meaningful conversations about the importance of helping others. After listening to Arthur’s Christmas, where Arthur tries to think of the best gift to GIVE to Santa, the children practiced taking a different perspective and thought about what presents they might give to Santa. They were able to put their creative thinking skills to good use. The Pre-K children continued their explorations of repeating patterns. They discovered that there are repeating and non-repeating patterns all around them. They are finding patterns in their clothes, on classroom carpets, in the hallways and on the playground. Having worked with AB patterns last week, the children are now exploring AABB patterns. The children have been putting the finishing touches on their holiday gifts, designing holiday cards and creatively decorating their classroom, as they diligently exercised their fine motor skills.
