This week, MKA welcomed the Pre-K children, its newest and youngest members, and their families to our school community. The children’s new school experience got off to a wonderful start! Parents joined their children in our Pre-K classrooms for a one-hour orientation on Tuesday and the children met their new classmates. The first few weeks in Pre-K are devoted to supporting the children’s social and emotional well being as they adapt to their new surroundings. The children's first full days in Pre-K were extremely productive as they settled into their new environment. In order to become familiar with the schedule, the children followed the full routine of a typical day in Pre-K. They successfully made the transition through morning carline procedures, hung up their backpacks and checked in for attendance and lunch. The children had their first Morning Meeting during which time they greeted one another, explored the calendar routines and joined in a song and dance activity. Throughout the rest of the week, new encore routines were introduced.
